Founded in 1991, LOGO Werbetechnik produces a huge range of sign and display products. It delivers high quality, backlit signage, flags and 3D signs on a variety of substrates, from vinyl to textiles. With a wide selection of wide format, digital roll machines in its portfolio – as well as a range of pre-press and finishing kit – the company is a one-stop shop for signage of all kinds. As an employer of around 30 people, LOGO Werbetechnik made its first wide format investment in 1998 and business has grown steadily ever since. In 2016, the company recognised the need for more up-to-date printers in its offering; that’s where Fujifilm came in. Manfred Bertram, one of LOGO’s two managing directors, explains: “We had decided we needed to replace one of our older 2.5 metre solvent printers. Fujifilm called us to tell us about its new machine and it just seemed to tick all the right boxes. At 3.2 metres, it gave us the width we needed as well as the ability to print two rolls simultaneously at half the width, speeding up production. The price was right, the quality was exceptional and we had a long history with Fujifilm – they were well established customers of ours as we have been producing the graphics for their photokina exhibition stand for 20 years. We have a huge amount of respect for the company and the brand.
“The Acuity 3200R was a brand new machine and, at the time we started looking at it, there were none installed anywhere in Europe, which suited us perfectly. Ever since we founded the company, we have kept a close eye on technological developments and are always looking for the next product that can help us to offer something that our competitors can’t.
“All together, it was only about two months from first hearing about the printer to having it installed; it was the first of its kind in Germany and one of the first in Europe. Having spoken to Fujifilm at Viscom Frankfurt in November 2016, we then had a full demonstration of the machine at the company’s facility in Düsseldorf and just a few weeks later it was in our factory and operational.
“Fujifilm’s support and service throughout the sales and installation process was excellent, helping to confirm to us that we had made the right investment decision.”
Also confirming that they had made the right decision was the immediate impact the press had on the business. Not only did they see an increase in quality, but this came with a reduction in job turnaround times and a corresponding increase in productivity. “We’re delivering jobs we couldn’t have before this investment,” says Bertram. “For instance, we recently had to print nearly 400m2 for one customer at short notice and the ability to print two roles simultaneously was the only thing that made it possible.”
One of the most significant of these new markets is inflatable displays. “Because the ink used in the Acuity LED 3200R is LED cured,” says Bertram, “we’re able to print to heat-sensitive materials we couldn’t have previously considered, opening up a world of possibility for producing printed textiles for inflatable displays.
“Customers have been delighted with the products we’ve delivered for them with the Acuity LED 3200R. They have remarked on the quality, particularly with backlit signage, and they’ve been hugely impressed with the extended range of substrates we can now accommodate. There is a significant trend in our market towards higher quality and shorter lead times and, with the Acuity LED 3200R and our partnership with Fujifilm, we can deliver on these expectations and keep up with our customers’ demands. We’ve even been able to move into entirely new markets, serving customers we had never had dealings with before.”
Says Tudor Morgan, Segment Manager Sign & Display at Fujifilm Graphic Systems Europe: “LOGO Werbetechnik takes pride in delivering high quality prints in a highly productive environment – the Acuity LED 3200R helps make this possible. Since its installation, LOGO has entered new markets and greatly impressed its customers with the standard of print produced. Fujifilm has been working alongside LOGO for many years and we look forward to that relationship continuing into the future.”
