While seeing value in digital print for packaging for a few years already, the company was waiting for a mature solution to be brought to the market. The company's decision to purchase the HP PageWide C550 Press came after their recent visit to the HP’s PageWide C550 open house in June 2023. The event convinced them that the C550 was the right fit for boosting their performance."With the HP PageWide C550 Press, we anticipate a game-changing shift in our production capabilities," Zarrinha said. "From Variable Data Printing (VDP) to cost-effective medium runs, this state-of-the-art technology will allow us to cater to unique customer demands. Plus, the elimination of a minimum order quantity will greatly benefit our clientele."
Notably, the addition of the C550 is expected to solve multiple business challenges for Zarrinha, including the high costs associated with paper. The equipment will enable the company to maintain superior print quality without resorting to very high paper grades, which was occasionally a requirement in their high-quality Flexo machine.
Moreover, Zarrinha's commitment to sustainability and its mission to preserve the environment is further underscored by the integration of the C550's water-based inks. Approximately 85% of their applications are related to food and the company firmly believes in using water-based inks, which also differentiates them from their competitors in the market who still rely on UV inks.

Zarrinha envisions further enriching the customer experience specifically for the wine and beer markets. With a printing speed of 90 lm/m, and digital flexibility, the company aims to replicate the variable data printing labels seen on bottles onto the boxes, a capability currently limited in Portugal due to the speed of the available digital equipment.
