Part of a broader European strategyPRAGMA, a leading software developer for medium to large printing companies, was founded in 1992 and was previously acquired by Bertsch Innovation, a software company outside the graphic arts industry.
While Bertsch Innovation achieved success in other sectors, it became clear after two years that PRAGMA was better suited to a specialist in graphic ERP software. Deep industry knowledge and a commitment to graphic solutions proved essential. As a result, PRAGMA is now part of Dataline, a company fully dedicated to ERP software for the graphic arts industry. This approach has been successfully applied by Dataline in previous acquisitions, such as Insad (Netherlands), Loiston (Finland), and Palmart (Spain).
The perfect match
Michael Baumeister is optimistic about the future with Dataline: “We are excited to join forces with a strong partner like Dataline. Under their guidance, we can ensure the continuity of service and support for our customers. We share the same vision: the graphic arts industry in Germany needs advanced automation and powerful workflows to maintain its competitiveness in the global market. Dataline’s expertise and products have proven to be perfectly suited for this, and we firmly believe that together we can make great strides.”
Dataline and PRAGMA have immediately started an integration process with a focus on customer-centricity. They have great confidence in Chroma, the custom software that perfectly aligns with the specific needs of printing companies.
Dataline continues to seek potential acquisitions
Dirk Deroo, CEO of Dataline, highlights the strategic value of the acquisition: “The German graphic arts industry is the largest print production market in Europe. For Dataline, it has long been a growth market with significant potential, where innovative Print MIS/ERP software can make all the difference. With PRAGMA as a strong partner, we can now establish a solid foundation in the DACH region and serve our customers better at the local level. This investment not only adds a valuable customer portfolio to our company but also brings a team of experienced and motivated specialists.”
Dataline’s ambition is to further strengthen its position in the European market. The company aims to build an organisation that connects many different businesses while respecting the unique characteristics of each company and every customer. The goal is to provide a healthy economic perspective for graphic production companies across Europe. Dataline is always open to collaborations with new partners across Europe to jointly help print production companies become more profitable.
