Founded eleven years ago to fill a gap in the market for personalised, on-demand posters, posterXXL has grown rapidly to offer a wide range of personalised on-demand print products to consumers across Germany, Austria, France, Belgium and the Netherlands. A “digital-only” printer that specialises in high quality, run-of-one, or completely individual prints with ultra-short turnaround times, posterXXL was acquired in 2015 by PhotoBox. The company has an impressive arsenal of printers, supported by large in-house pre-press and finishing departments and is set on further expansion – with significant double digit growth-rates projected for the current year. Impressed by the productivity and reliability of the Jet Press 720S following demonstrations in 2015, the company invested in two of these high performance B2 inkjet machines late last year to help accelerate that growth.“The Jet Press 720S appealed to us for a number of reasons,” says posterXXL CEO Christian Schnagl, “with its impressive productivity and reliability being two of the most important. E-commerce on mobile phones and tablets is dramatically changing the world we live in, and the immediacy of these technologies means expectations are also shifting, with customers demanding ever faster delivery. Too often with large format digital printing you have to sacrifice speed to get the necessary quality. However, with the Jet Press 720S we have found a press that can meet our ever growing need for speed – with absolutely no compromise on quality. Several months on since installation, these two presses have played a key role in helping us to achieve a notable improvement in delivery times.
“As for reliability,” Schnagl continues, “we’ve found the press up-time to be exceptional – around 90%. That level of reliability is invaluable given how much of a focus we place on ensuring our customers get their products as quickly as possible.”
Schnagl has also been impressed with the versatility of the machine, especially its ability to print on canvas: “A significant proportion of our work is photographic or fine art printing on canvas,” he explains. “The Jet Press is perfect for this application. In fact we’ve found it to be such a versatile machine right across the board that we can send almost any job to it. The B2 format size is really the only restriction we’ve encountered.”
And, it isn’t just the machine that has impressed the team at posterXXL. “Fujifilm’s service has also been excellent,” says Schnagl. “Their responsiveness on the rare occasions we’ve had problems has been exemplary, and we’ve found them to be a hugely valuable partner to our business.”
Says Taro Aoki, Head of Digital Press Solutions in EMEA for Fujifilm: “The Jet Press 720S remains the only commercially viable B2 inkjet press on the market. Where many have tried, Fujifilm has delivered, and posterXXL’s double Jet Press 720S investment – the first in Europe – is testament to the potential this machine has to add value to print businesses.
“With the total number of global installations now approaching 80 – and many more anticipated in the next few months – the Jet Press 720S continues to build a remarkable track record as a system for adding value and profit, with many users expanding their businesses on the basis of the world class quality and colour consistency of the print produced.”
The Jet Press 720S will be on display on Fujifilm stand A25 in Hall 8b at drupa 2016.
