Domino is highlighting how the versatility and productivity of its digital ink jet printing technologies can deliver added value through integrated, high speed customisation, addressing, coding and numbering to a range of hybrid printing, mailing and gaming applications on its stand (S5 / F391) at Ipex 2014.

Each day throughout the show, through a series of live demonstrations, Domino is presenting its K600i single colour high resolution digital ink jet printer, designed to integrate variable data printing within existing sheet and web-fed presses and finishing lines, or which can be delivered as a standalone digital press. The K600i produces 600dpi high resolution UV curable print at speeds from 50 to 150 metres (492ft) per minute.

The device can be configured for different print widths ranging from 108mm (4.26”) to 558mm (21.96”), which means that it can be used for general addressing through to the complete personalisation of a covering letter or sheet. Visitors to the Domino stand can see the K600i in action on a Herzog+Heymann finishing line, showcasing how a direct mailpiece can be produced with UV inks to offer superior vibrancy and impact.

The company is also launching a brand new water-based ink at Ipex 2014 – AQ90BK. Developed by Domino to work reliably with the high-speed print heads used in the K600i printer, this environmentally-friendly ink is for use on porous substrates, commonly used in transactional, book, newspaper, mailing, ticket and form applications. Please see the press release entitled ‘Domino launches water-based AQ90BK black ink at Ipex 2014’ for further information.

Also on display is Domino’s Bitjet+ v4.5, the most versatile high speed digital print system. This can be easily integrated onto high speed webs, folder gluers, plastic card, bindery, packaging and wrapping lines. Capable of production speeds of up to 800m/min (2600ft/min), it is ideal for adding personalisation, numbering, 2D and linear barcodes and graphics onto all media types with no requirement for drying equipment or line modifications. At Ipex, the Bitjet+ v4.5 is integrated onto a Rotech mailbase to demonstrate the ease with which customisation can be added in-line.

“Today, more than ever before, printers are looking for innovative solutions that will complement their existing printing equipment to add value and differentiate their current offerings, and present new revenue streams,” says Philip Easton, Director, Domino Digital Printing Solutions Division. “With the industry experiencing declining print volumes, digital printing represents a potential area of growth for our customers. By adding a product like the Domino K600i to an existing production line, we convert it to digital facilitating growth opportunities. Our focus at Ipex 2014 is to demonstrate just how easy it is to introduce fully automated high resolution customised print, codes and graphics into existing web or sheet fed print production lines at the highest of speeds.”
